Even today when we live in a relatively open minded society there are still reservations about using hypnotherapy to overcome difficulties.

The interesting thing is that Hypnosis is a natural state for humans. All that happens in a state of Hypnosis is that your mind focuses on one thing to the exclusion of all others, just like when you watch an interesting film, read a great book or listen to a piece of music that you really enjoy.

Hypnotherapy is simply using our natural state of Hypnosis to bring about a therapeutic change. The way in which this happens is that by going into a state of natural Hypnosis we are able to access a part of our mind that controls and understands what makes us have any given behaviour or condition. This part of our mind is also able to accept positive suggestions about making changes so long as the suggestions are in balance with who we are and so long as the changes can be adapted into our lives.
